An Open Letter To CrossFit Moms
Mother’s Day is here. It’s the one day of the year that we take a moment to celebrate the person that brought us into this life. The person who loves us unconditionally and would do anything for us. The human being with the most patience. Our rock. Our go to when we are sick, happy, sad. To the woman that wears the most hats; this one's for you.
To my CrossFit Moms – I hope you know you are a wonderful role model to your children. They see everything. They watch every move you make. Every burpee. Every 200m run. Every deadlift. They see you. They understand that exercise is important because you’ve exposed them to it and taught them by practicing what you preach. They look up to you and want to be just like you. I hope that makes you proud.
To all my CrossFit Moms – I hope you know you are a superhero. I am proud of you for committing yourself to the gym and making your health and fitness a priority. It’s hard to do when the day is packed full with children duties, work, house chores, errands, and I know that doesn’t even scratch the surface of what Moms face in any given day. You are a great Mom. And a great CrossFitter. I hope you know that. Your kids think you are a superhero…and we do too.
To all my CrossFit Moms– I hope you love who you are. You are strong and powerful. I hope that CrossFit has given you the confidence mentally, physically, and emotionally to tackle Motherhood and life itself. I hope the outlet you get here gives you the strength to face the day head on – to tackle with confidence whatever comes your way. I hope the box is a sanctuary for you and an hour of your day when you get to be yourself and do something for yourself.
To all my CrossFit Moms – I hope you know how much you’ve helped me. As a new Mom and I’ve certainly struggled to find balance. I’ve experienced the Mom guilt. I’ve cried over nothing but it felt like everything. I’ve had good days and bad days. Days I can conquer the world and days I feel like I have no control. I have to thank you – all of you – for helping me along the way. The advice you’ve given me. The crazy stories of Motherhood that you’ve shared. The text messages telling me it’s going to be okay. The chatting in class while we stretch. The hugs when you know I need one. For making me realize that I am not crazy and how I am feel is completely normal. Thank you for supporting me and helping me along the way.
There’s certainly something special about a Mom. And definitely something to be said about Mom power. There is an unspoken bond and appreciation from Mom to Mom. I hope you know how much your kids love you and how much I appreciate you. How much WE appreciate you. From the bottom of our hearts – from all of us at CFPH – we hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day. Thank you for being a wonderful part of our CrossFit community.
